James Whitcomb Riley Museum Indianapolis Indiana

The James Whitcomb Riley Museum is found nestled in Lockerbie Square of Indianapolis Indiana. The Museum is the former home of the famous poet, James Whitcomb Riley. Built in 1872, it is the only Late-Victorian preservation home in the country, and it is considered one of the finest with authentic furnishings and decor.

The Riley Museum features many of Riley's personal belongings, which include his last poem, his top hat and cane, a portrait of his beloved dog, and his writing desk. The museum is open to visitors on Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00am to 3:30pm and Sunday from Noon to 3:30pm. It is closed on Mondays, the first three weeks of January, and holidays. Admission for adults is $3, $2 for seniors, $0.50 for students, and free for children six and under. The Museum is located at 528 Lockerbie Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
