  Slippery Noodle Inn in the early years in downtown Indianapolis IndianaFounded in 1850, the Slippery Noodle Inn is the oldest continually operated bar that still remains in its original building in the state of Indiana.  The National Register of Historic Places has listed the Slippery Noodle. Several activities have occurred at the Slippery Noodle. It was a station for the Underground Railroad during the Civil War. A bordello was opened and remained until a murder transpired over one of the women. During Prohibition, gangs used the back of the building for target practice; in addition, beer and liquor was distilled there, along with swine and cattle butchering.

Some of the noted musicians who have performed at the Inn include: Rick Derringer, Johnny Clyde Copeland, Clarence Brown, Joe McDonald, Buddy Miles, and Jay Giles.  Famous celebrity visits to the Slippery Noodle include: The Blues Brothers, Dave Matthews, Harrison Ford, Matt LeBlanc, Billy Joel, Jason Priestly, Brett Favre, Patrick Dempsey, Alyson Hannigan, Oasis, Neil Diamond, Robert DeNiro, Liza Minnelli, Harry Connick Jr., Spike Lee, David Hasselhoff, Bill Cowher, Hootie & the Blowfish, and more.

The Slippery Noodle Inn offers a full menu that is available until 11 every night. They also offer a lat night menu that is available until 12:30am on Sunday, until 1am Monday through Wednesday, and until 2am Thursday through Saturday. Must be at least 21 years old and have ID at all times. It is located at 372 South Meridian Street in Downtown Indianapolis.
