Hoosier Salon

The Hoosier Salon is an Indianapolis art gallery that seeks to prove to the world that Indianapolis art has a place among the world’s best.  Founded by the Daughters of Indiana in 1925, the initial exhibition took place in Chicago to a great deal of critical and public acclaim. The gallery now has locations in the Broad Ripple Village (one of many Indianapolis cultural districts), New Harmony, and Wabash.

Located just a few minutes from Broad Ripple Park, The Hoosier Salon is a bit out of the way from the rest of the Indianapolis art scene, but it holds its own as one of the oldest galleries in the city. Indeed, it is one of the most distinguished galleries, receiving almost 600 submissions for consideration in the annual exhibition for 2005.

The Hoosier Salon is greatly invested in the future of Indianapolis culture. It holds numerous workshops and classes to advance the skills of local artists, and artists of all levels are encouraged to participate in classes. In addition, the Salon provides information about most Indiana galleries and artists on their website, not just their own.

The Hoosier Salon is a great place to stop by if you are interested in visiting the most venerable gallery in Indianapolis, and it holds a strong promise for the future of Indianapolis art.
